The Power of a Plastic God

Dragon Ball Super. The newest installment of the Dragon Ball series has taken off and is (so far) pretty well written and animated. The protagonist Goku and his allies fight evil in the hopes of protecting earth from total destruction.

I’ve grown up with Dragon Ball. I remember rushing home from school, dropping my backpack at the door to  give my homework no regards to turn on the T.V. and watch as Super Saiayn Gohan beat the living crap out of Cell (to this day, still probably my favorite fight).

Fast forward a few years, and now Goku has a new power, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. Yes I typed that right, and after push back from fans, they finally titled it “Super Saiyan Blue” for all intents and purposes.

Of course with great shows comes great merchandise! One of the latest pieces we managed to get our hands on was Bandai’s newest character in the Figure-Rise line, Super Saiyan Blue Goku!

Figure-Rise is a pose-able model building kit, where you snap out corresponding pieces from runners and follow the instruction manual and snap them together. Think of Legos, but for adults (even though as an adult I’d still play the shit out of some Legos!)

Goku’s kit was fairly simple, yet yielded great results. The kit comes with 2 interchangeable expressions, 3 pairs of hands, and a couple effects so that you can create your perfect scene. Sadly there are a few stickers that I didn’t agree with, but with some patience and a steady hand I even managed to make them look good.

We also had the Blue Aura Effect from the same Figure-Rise line at our disposal as well. For the pose, I decided to use Goku and his yelling expression, firing off a Kamehameha Blast (his signature move), whith a swirl of blue energy rising from his feet.

Over all, I give the Super Saiyan Blue Goku Figure-Rise kit a solid 9/10. Easy plastic cutting, easy instructions, cool effects, and great maneuverability

“Why a 9 then Geek?”…stickers man…damm stickers.
